Somer Thompson provides psychotherapy and assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults at Summit Center’s Walnut Creek office. She is currently a fourth-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Alliant University, where her clinical training has fostered a particular passion for working with neurodivergence across the lifespan.
 
Over the past decade, Somer has worked in a variety of mental health settings, developing experience in clinical assessment, treatment planning, service coordination, and individual and group therapy. Her clinical training has included community mental health at La Concordia Wellness Center and inpatient psychiatric care at Adventist Health Vallejo, where she has had the opportunity to work with individuals across a broad range of ages, presenting concerns, and levels of care. She has experience in facilitating individual, family, and group psychotherapy, as well as conducting academic and psychological assessments with children and adults. Somer has also received specialized training in child development, family systems, and developmentally informed interventions.
 
Somer utilizes a strengths-based, client-centered, and integrative approach. She is committed to creating a supportive and neurodiversity-affirming environment that honors each client’s unique strengths, needs, experiences, and goals. Through collaboration with clients and their families, she strives to foster self-understanding, build on existing strengths, and empower individuals to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
