Dr. Courtney Hansen is a licensed psychologist and neuropsychologist who provides assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults at Summit Center in Walnut Creek. She is passionate about providing individualized and comprehensive neuropsychological and educational evaluations for diverse populations, including the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Hansen views assessment as a tool in creating a full and detailed picture of an individual’s strengths and challenges in order to develop the best supports for them in their home, school, work, and community settings.

 

Dr. Hansen’s professional interests and experience include assessment for individuals with neurodevelopmental concerns (including giftedness, twice exceptionality, autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and learning disabilities), neurologic and genetic conditions (including seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, and cerebral palsy) and broad social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.

 

Dr. Hansen has worked within hospital, community mental health, and private practice settings providing neuropsychological and educational assessments as well as behavior therapy. Dr. Hansen earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology after earning her B.A. in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Hansen’s dissertation research focused on the sex education needs of autistic children, adolescents, and adults. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in conjunction with Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and her two-year post-doctoral neuropsychology fellowship at Rush University Medical Center’s NeuroBehavioral Center in Chicago, Illinois.
