Dr. Rupa Robbins provides assessment, therapy, and consultation services for children and adolescents at Summit Center. Dr. Robbins began her career as a 3rd grade teacher in an urban charter school in Washington, D.C. As a teacher, she learned how social-emotional well-being is foundational for success in school. She returned to graduate school to pursue her doctorate in school psychology, where she researched the effects of friendships between children of different races. Before joining Summit Center, Dr. Robbins worked as a psychologist in the Brisbane School District. She has also worked as an educational consultant in children’s media, reviewing content for major networks and developing a set of developmental guidelines for producers. Her work both in and out of schools has informed her philosophy of understanding the whole child in their unique context. She believes in strengths-based, comprehensive assessments for children. Her therapeutic work incorporates the principals of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and positive psychology.
Dr. Robbins earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University, her master’s degree in education from George Mason University, and her doctorate in school psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
