Ellena Chen is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in collaborative strength-based work with children and their families. She provides a range of services, including individual and family counseling, psychological assessments, and consultations. Dr. Chen is passionate about twice-exceptionality, parenting, and helping children and families who are struggling with learning differences, ADHD, and anxiety.
Drawing on years of work with young children across the globe, Dr. Chen strives to join with each child (and family) to help them find their voice and reach their full potential. Through the use of narrative therapy and a systems-based approach, Dr. Chen seeks to understand each individual and family, supporting them as they work through difficulties. Within her assessments, she enjoys helping clients discover themselves through diagnostic evaluations and empowering children and parents to become advocates for their needs. Her past experience includes working in community mental health at Alameda Family Services, and in various bay area schools and preschools as both a teacher and counselor. As a parent of two young children, Dr. Chen has an in-depth understanding of the rollercoaster of emotions that can come with raising a child, and partners with parents to provide a continuity of care. When not at Summit Center, you can find her burning food in the kitchen, enjoying the outdoors, adventuring with her family, and absentmindedly talking to her dog.
