Dr. Dan Peters is Co-founder and Clinical Director of the Summit Center, specializing in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families with special emphasis on gifted, talented, and creative individuals and families. He presents at state, national, and international conferences on a variety of gifted topics. Dr. Peters also serves on the SENG Editorial Board and consults with GATE and Special Education Departments. Dr. Peters’ clinical interests include the diagnosis and misdiagnosis of gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) individuals, overcoming anxiety, and helping individuals achieve their developmental potential. Dr. Peters is also Co-founder of Camp Summit, a sleep-over summer camp for gifted youth, coming in summer, 2010, at the Marin Headlands. |
Dr. Susan Daniels is Co-founder and Educational Director of the Summit Center as well as Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and Counseling at California State University – San Bernardino where she also directs the College of Education Graduate Certificate in Gifted Education. Dr. Daniels is an internationally recognized expert in the field of gifted education and creativity, with numerous publications and presentations at educational and psychological conferences given annually. She specializes in the social and emotional development of gifted children and adolescents, intensity and sensitivity of gifted individuals across the lifespan, and the development of creative potential. Providing Differentiated Educational Plans for children and adolescents as part of the Gifted Comprehensive and Gifted Complex Assessment options through the Summit Center, Dr. Daniels is also available for consultation with families and schools. Along with Dr. Peters, Dr. Daniels is a Co-founder of Camp Summit, a residential summer camp for gifted youth, coming in summer, 2010, at the Marin Headlands. |
Dr. Lisa White earned her Ph.D. at the California School of Professional Psychology, where her doctoral dissertation research explored parent-child interactions in families with gifted children. She has had clinical training at numerous sites, including the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics department at Oakland Children's Hospital and The Berkeley Therapy Institute. Her clinical interests include psychodiagnostic assessment of gifted children, children with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders and ADD, as well as therapy with children and adults and consultations with families and teachers. Dr. White also works with families with twins or higher-order multiples, and she serves as the support group chair and executive board member for Twins By The Bay, through which she facilitates a regular discussion group for new and expectant parents of multiples. |
Margaret Husbands, Psy.D., Registered Psychological Assistant PSB 33878 drmargarethusbands@summitcenter.us Dr. Margaret Husbands holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and has a broad range of experience providing bilingual mental health services to children, adolescents and their families. Her professional work in psychology include the following areas: neurodevelopmental assessment, psychoeducational evaluation, individual, family and group therapy, as well as child advocacy and clinical consultation. She also works as an Assessment Specialist at a community psychology clinic in the Bay Area, where she provides psychological assessment and evaluation services, using a model of assessment that is strength-based, therapeutic and collaborative. In addition to her extensive experience in mental health, she is also a private consultant, specializing in program development and evaluation. |
Kathleen D. Crombie, M.A., M.Ed.,Parent Consultant SENG Parent Group Trainer kathleencrombie@summitcenter.us Kathleen D. Crombie earned Master of Arts and Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College-Columbia University in New York. She works at Alta Bates Summit Medial Center in the departments of Psychiatry and High-Risk Pregnancy in Women and Infant Services, Berkeley, CA. Ms. Crombie is the President of the Piedmont GPS (GATE Parent Support) Board of Directors. She is a SENG-Model Parent Support Group Co-Facilitator in Walnut Creek and Oakland, CA. Ms. Crombie is a certified trainer for SENG-Model groups. She is a member of NAGC, CAG and SENG. Ms. Crombie has two gifted children in public school and teaches art. |
Nancy Knop followed a degree in science education with work as a research scientist and a Ph.D. in the Dept. of Natural Resources at U. C. Berkeley. During twenty-three years of teaching science in grades 7-12 at the Head-Royce School in Oakland, she became fascinated with the great variety learning difference she saw in her students. Her study of the primary research in the cognitive science and neuroscience of learning led to many opportunities to speak about the brain and learning, especially math learning, at local and national venues. While continuing to teach, she earned a graduate-level Certificate in Educational Therapy from U. C. Berkeley Extension. Part of her job at Head-Royce became working as a Middle School Learning Resource Teacher. She was active in supporting students with learning differences and their parents as well as consulting with administrators and other teachers. Nancy practiced as an Educational Therapist in the Bay Area before she moved to Charleston, West Virginia in 2006, where she continued her practice at the Appalachian Reading Center and Professional Therapy Services. Nancy is a member of the Association of Educational Therapists, the International Dyslexia Association, and Sigma Xi, an organization that honors those who work in research |
Dr. Chou serves children, youth, and families as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with the City and County of San Francisco, Department of Public Health, and within his private practice in Millbrae, CA. As an adjunct Professor, Dr. Chou also teaches doctoral students at Alliant International University – California School of Professional Psychology in the San Francisco/Bay Area and Hong Kong campuses. Dr. Chou volunteers his time as an Executive Director with the Big Sibling Program, a non-profit mentorship program. Dr. Chou is a student of the gifted and talented discipline. He has been honored to have worked with giftedness in children as well as their parents at The Nueva School and in his private practice.

Michelle Limon, Psy.D. Dr. Michelle Limon received her undergraduate degree from Sonoma State University. She went on to receive her Masters’ Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and received her doctorate from CSPP, Alliant International University. While at CSPP, Michelle studied Neuropsychological Assessment and applied this knowledge to get further training and experience in testing children, adolescents, and adults in the areas of giftedness, twice-exceptionality (2e), learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and trauma. Michelle is currently enrolled at UC Berkeley, Extension certificate program in Neuropsychological Assessment. In addition to being a part of the Summit Center team, Michelle currently works as an Assessment Specialist at a community psychology clinic in the Bay Area specializing in comprehensive Neuropsychological, Psychoeducational, and Psychological Assessment Evaluations, using a model of assessment that is strength-based, therapeutic and collaborative.
