Lisa Hancock provides assessments, consultations, counseling, and therapy for children, teens, families, and adults in Torrance. She also provides assessments and consultations in West LA. Lisa’s comprehensive assessments help families better understand a child’s strengths and weaknesses to help guide educational planning, intervention, and parenting. She has particular expertise in twice-exceptional children (those who are bright and have learning or processing challenges), as well as those who are highly through profoundly gifted.
Lisa has worked as a Gifted Advocate for many years helping families of gifted and twice-exceptional children navigate both public and private school systems; has taken Master’s level coursework in gifted education; and holds her MBA. She served for five years on her district’s Gifted and Talented Education Advisory Board; is certified by SENG as an SMPG Master Level Facilitator; served three years on the board of PG Retreat; is a proposal reader for both NAGC and NMCS; and speaks regularly at local, state, and national gifted conferences. As part of her job as the co-founder of the California Gifted Network, she also works with administrators to design and implement educational and social programming for gifted children; provides teacher in-service training; and conducts parent education workshops. Lisa is completing her doctorate in clinical psychology and is supervised directly by Dr. Maria Paasivirta.
